Introduction
A new sports supplement company recently launched in the UK, offering a service quite different from most other UK supplement suppliers... the ability to design your own supplements! Yes, you read correctly. My Protein allows you to design your own supplement, specifiy a weight or quantity and it will land on your doorstep within days!
Whlst MyProtein are not entirely unique with this service (ProteinFactory.com has been doing this in the USA for some time) MyProtein are the first to offer this service within the UK. Let's take a look at how it works.

Using MyProtein's customiser tool (Shown left) you can choose the exact balance of your supplement by specifying percentages alongside an impressive list of ingredients. You can choose from (or mix) different proteins (Whey, Casein, Egg, Milk), Carbohydrates (Dextrose, Maltodextrin), Flavourings and sweetners. Creatine, Glutamine, BCAA, HMB and other popular ingredients are also available to make your DIY sports supplement. |
If supplement DIY isn't your thing, MyProtein also offer a range of pre-designed supplement formulas which are available at very reasonable prices. The pre-designed formulas are themed and include Hard Gainer, Morning, MRP, Bedtime, Creatine Plus and many more.
We sampled a container of the Hurricane formula, an all in one type supplement, which is designed as follows:

My Protein describes their Hurricane Formula as follows:
"After a hard workout Hurricane Formula improves the muscles speed of rebuilding, with much faster recovery of glycogen than using carbohydrates alone.
A daily serving of Hurricane Formula comprises of 10g of pure Creatine Monohydrate which has been scientifically proven to increase muscle size, strength and endurance and when this is combined with Dextrose it increases the effects of Creatine Monohydrate even further. We decided to also include HMB which research has shown helps prevent muscle tissue breakdown after intense workouts. Of course to build muscle you need quality protein powder, this is why we are using a blend of the best whey protein along with 4.2g of the excellent amino-acid L-Glutamine."
Nutritionally, Hurricane offers 36g Protein, 21g Carbs and 1.1g Fat per 60g serving. We found the Hurricane supplement was well mixed and the Strawberry taste of our sample was good. The packaging isn't gonna win any graphics awards but with prices for Hurricane starting at around £12.57 for a Kilo you can hardly complain!
